Ivan Weber

A 'deep generalist,' Ivan has devoted his long career to study and understanding of the planet, life and cultures over time, and how they interact with natural systems, in pursuit of sustainable human built environments in balance with natural systems at all scales.

From early and university studies in geology and archeology, Ivan has refined ongoing interests and expertise to focus on paleoecology --- ancient environments and processes --- and its lessons for applied solutions to current challenges.  A lifetime in construction, design and environmental management and activism continues to enable and enhance Ivan's application of acquired capacities, philosophies and directions.

Client-centered and goal-focused, Weber Sustainability Consulting offers services that are tailor-made to each need, in timely and scale-appropriate manner.

  • 25 years construction, construction management, environmental construction, facilities planning, specifications, architectural and engineering technology, contracts management
  • 10 years environmental planning and applied environmental sciences management and 'ecological engineering,' including mining remediation, wetlands for water quality improvement, and disturbed lands remediation and reclamation, for the mining industry
  • Public-centered actist with 20+ years community leadership in environment, performing arts facilities, affordable housing and sustainable design /construction, including more than a dozen boards, commissions, task forces and special projects assignments for state agencies, county and city governments, NGOs and Salt Lake City's Olympics; founding Chairman, US Green Building Council-Utah Chapter.
  • Special interests:  Industrial ecology, sustainable agriculture, sustainable forestry, sustainable cities and the synergistic potential of their strategic interaction, especially in China and other Asian cultural contexts.
